Fill The Earth

God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.” Genesis 11:27-28

We are doing our best to fill the earth with the image of God and these red shirts from Uganda are the ones helping make that happen. They are the ones taking God’s Word to new countries and starting classes. They have been to Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Tanzania. The five graduations held in Malawi last November were because they encouraged the students in Malawi with several visits and inspiration to complete their studies.

May 12-23 will be our first training in Bomet, Kenya. Four of our red shirts will be traveling with Paul Kneeland to introduce the training to a group of pastors that Paul met this past November. There is also a Seminary in Kisii, Kenya that will get an introduction to the training at the same time.

Two other red shirts will be taking the training to Burundi. The interest in starting oral training in Burundi is high, but the war in Congo with Rwandan backed M23 rebels is causing unrest in that area. Meanwhile, the first two books of oral curriculum will be translated into Kirundi.

Another pair is returning to South Sudan to observe that training. About half of the group is made up of older teenagers because the civil war killed many of their parents and left others displaced. Mama Nissi will be returning to England to visit her children, and while there she will be checking up on the class that she started there.

Fill Our Minds

 Now the Jews [from Berea] were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. Acts 17:11

A new two-week training in Uganda was successful. We spent eight days reviewing ten chapters of the Bible. We titled the training, The Story of the Church, because it covered the process of how the church was begun.

The training covered:

  • The call of the disciples (Luke 5)
  • The multiplication of the kingdom (Mark 4)
  • The sending of disciples (Luke 10)
  • The Great Commission (Matthew 28 and Acts 1)
  • The Holy Spirit’s work (Acts 2)
  • The unschooled ordinary men (Acts 3-4)
  • Paul’s first missionary journey (Acts 14)
  • Paul’s second missionary journey (Acts 16)

We want the Ugandans to use this content as the introduction to oral training when they begin classes in new countries. We will test this in May on the trip to Kenya and then again when the other two go to Burundi. We are praying that this will give future students a full example of how to do oral training without causing them to be dependent on our teachers when they switch to the regular curriculum. A special delight was to have Henry and Rob in the training. They are disciples that Nate Jore trained while on their farm next to the Nile River. Those two “unschooled ordinary” men started four house churches. While we were there, six new guys turned to Jesus from the area they call the “ghetto.” God is at work.
